Day 2 ~ Temples and Sacramento

We got up and started out! The main purpose of our trip was to get photos of the temples, so we stopped by and took pictures of the Reno Temple on our way out of town! I love that since the two temple open houses our children have been so excited to go and see the temples. Skyler really wants to go inside each one. The height of the Reno temple for him was when he had to go potty, so Brandon took his recommend and they both went in to use the potty. Skyler was elated that he got to go in the temple!! There was a waiting room restroom just off the main door which worked out perfectly. Skyler didn't care, he was just happy that he got to go in the temple!

We had decided that taking the trip around Lake Tahoe would be funner than driving I-80 the whole way. Onto Lake Tahoe we went! It was beautiful! The lake was big, filled with ships and even para-sailers. The kids loved skipping rocks in the lake. Somehow after we stopped to take pictures, and use the bathroom, we got heading round the wrong side of the lake. We drove from California back into Nevada before we realized that we were going the wrong way. It was an hour detour. :(

Here is a little hint to those of you thinking to do the same: Lake Tahoe is beautiful, but the road speed limit is only 30 miles an hour, 10 in some areas. At one point we were driving on the top of a mountain with nothing but sharp drops and trees on either side of us.

4 hours later we arrived in Sacramento. Of course our next stop was the Sacramento Temple. This temple was one of my favorites! It was so beautiful! The design is very similar to the Bountiful Temple. The grounds of this temple are definitely designed for bridal photos. There were so many places that were absolutely gorgess and perfect for a happy couple to pose under on their happy day. The kids loved this one too, though it was really hot out when we were there.

We went to Old Sacramento that night. It is a part of the town that is a lot like Jackson Wyoming, or Pioneer town at Lagoon. The sidewalks were all board walks, and cobblestone roads. We went to an awesome costume store. It was 4 stories tall, filled with all sorts of neat Halloween decorations and costumes. It was lots of fun! Than we went on to the candy stores. Domenic was in Pez guy heaven! Notice the look of excitement on his little collector face as he stands in front of the wall of Pez. Yes, we had to hand pick through every single one of those to see if there were any that he didn't have. He found 6. And yes, we had to buy them. We also had met up with Brandon's mom and dad, and his sister Sara. His dad has been living in Sacramento for the last 9 months. We stayed with them!
