2nd Grade Projects

Alexis just completed her 2nd Grade Animal Fair. It was so cute! The children learned to research information about animals. Alexis choose the Turtle, because she hopes to get one for a pet. She made this cute little book about turtles, with information that she found on her own. She illustrated it all by herself.

They also had to make a representation of where the animal that they choose lives. She and her daddy made this: She made all the turtles herself. She painted it, found the moss and suggested it to Brandon, and even helped glue on all the sand. They had such a good time putting it together, and her finished project was great! She got wonderful reviews!

Happy Easter!

What a great day Easter was! We loved going to church. At first Domenic didn't want to go, but when I told him that was fine, but the Easter Bunny wouldn't be able to come while he was home, then he quickly changed his mind. We did fun singing time in Primary, including hopping like a bunny while singing "I looked out the window"! You should try it sometime, it's hard! The Easter hunt was great! I was so glad the the weather cooperated and allowed for an outdoor hunt!

The kids loved what they had gotten. Brandon did a fun treasure hunt for their big prizes.

We took family pictures afterward. The boys wanted to show their stuff! Such Boys!


"Happy Smile Skyler!" He showed me his happy face and then laughed when I burst out laughing!

Alexis wanted to do the boys and the girls. So cute!



It took about 9 shots to get a good family one! Domenic would make faces or Alexis would close her eyes, or Skyler wouldn't even be looking. But I think we finally got a great one!

Easter Egg Hunting

I love to go out and find free Easter Egg Hunts! Yes, it might be a bit sadistic because I drag all 3 children out, but they love it so much! We went to 2 separate egg hunts this weekend, and are planning on more this coming weekend!

The first hunt was at my work. It was an underwater egg hunt! The Rec Center has some great pools that help accommodate this. The first is the Splash Zone that never reaches more than 1' 9" deep. It is always warm and is filled with fun water tools, slides, etc. Skyler got to hunt in this pool! Domenic and Alexis were in the Specialty pool that doesn't go over 4 feet deep. It too is very warm and perfect for preswimmers/learning. They get to jump in, hunt for eggs, and at the end no matter how many eggs you have, all the children receive a prize bag filled with candy and prizes. The kids love it, and it is free (course we are members so it would have been free anyway, but it is free to all!)

Next we hit up an egg hunt at Dan's Food Market up the street. This one started at 9 am. just before conference on Saturday. It was hilarious and so much fun! They had roped off 3 aisles for the age groups (wouldn't you know it we had 1 kid in each group). Alexis was 1 of only about 8 children. There were the most in Domenic's age group, probably about 15-20. Skyler's group had about 12-14 or so! The picture below is of the 5-6 year old's aisle. You can see that it is just covered in eggs! The over 7 year olds were hilarious! They were like little vacuum cleaners going up the isle. Covered ahead, nothing but shiny floor behind them!

There really weren't that many people there, so the kids got baskets of eggs and goodies. All of the candy was Great Chocolate (ie. hersheys kisses and bars, and Rolos). Then some of the eggs had certificates for great prizes! We brought home 4 bottles of bubbles, cheese sticks, and more carrot snack packs than you can imagine! On Sunday I was cleaning out Skyler's basket and low and behold, there was a certificate for one of the Big Easter Baskets that they had given away. We went in first thing Monday morning and they still let us claim it; they had actually set aside the unclaimed basket! Nifty! It was the basket specially designated for the under 3 year olds! He will get bubbles, crayons, a cute stuffed bunny, sticker books, board books, a chalk board, and more! It was great!

The Armor of God

For those of you who subscribe to the Elder Callor chronicle you may be curious about the Armor of God visual that we sent him for his birthday! This is the finished project. We took the picture of Skyler which was so perfect as the before picture. Notice that he has no shoes on and that without his armor he is "Mr. Mischief!" Once properly clothed he is ready to go. Brandon hand drew the outfit to fit exactly with the picture (isn't he so talented!) I think that it was such a great idea and a wonderful way to visualize the lesson for new converts. I know we all loved the lesson reminder and helping to create this!

Brownie Spatulas, Gotta love them!

I have to give a shout out to my favorite Kitchen Utensil, the Brownie Spatula!

Not a day goes by that I don't use a brownie spatula. These cute little spatulas are a convenient and useful necessity! I love them so much! I flip eggs with them, turn pancakes, remove hot food from cookie sheets, and on and on. I have to own at least 5 at a time just to make sure that I always have one available to use! Before you think I am crazy, keep in mind that these sweet little useful tools are only $0.99 at Orson Gigis! Gotta love them!

Weather?

So others have said it and I second the notion: I hate snow in April!
Go away 30 degree days!
Go Away coldness!

Go Away icky weather that brings sickness to my babies!

Go Away new furnace payments at the end of the season because the old one decided to blow and was totally "unsafe to use any more".

Please bring on the crocus, hycinaths, tulips and daffodils! The sunburns, rosy cheeks, sun-bleached blondies, and WARMTH!
