My little boy

Boys will be boys, and if it can happen it will happen to my little bruiser. Last Monday we were playing Pictionary at work and Domenic came around the table for me to whisper in his ear what he should draw (he still doesn't have the reading down yet). He tripped; with the pencil in his hand. Well, you can imagine what happened when he hit the floor, pencil still in hand......right under his left eye, though from my angle it looked like it went right into the eye. I was mortified as he started screaming, and bleeding all over. I grabbed him and ran into the back area so that the other children couldn't observe. Thank heavens the pencil hit right below the eye and not right in it. He had a 2 cm. gash about 1 1/2 cm below his eye. I rushed him to Primary's and had Brand meet me there. 5 1/2 hours later, 7 stitches and 3 doses of sedative to put him out, later we emerged and took our brave little boy home. He has a terrible black eye, the white of his eye is blood red, and he might have a bit of a scar (the pencil went in and than back out so there were 3 cuts very close together), but he has an eye. Amazing how you can find the greatness and blessing out of the worst of situations.

As you can see, 2 weeks later his eye is looking pretty good. We had to pull 3 stitches out, and there doesn't seem to be too much scarring. He does have to take good care of it for the next year though!

My poor little bud. When you told me the story I got goose bumps and reading was just as bad. Thank goodness he is doing so well. It looks pretty good. We love you bud.
