I cut coupons. I don't care what anyone says, but shopping with coupons is not easy! It takes so much time each week. First it begins with obtaining the coupons, usually from the Sunday paper. Than you have to go through and decide which of those would be useful to you. Next you have to sort by group, because if you don't sort them you won't know what you have after awhile. Once you have sorted them, you must go through the older coupons to see what has expired and throw them out. Now that you have only good coupons you can add the new coupons to each category, for instance food, baby stuff, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene, etc.. Now you might think that you are done, but NOOOOO. You are only done until you go to the grocery or other store. Than you have to go through the coupons (and if you are savy the weekly ads to determine what is on sale), and prepare for your trip to the store. Figure out if you need to by one, two or more of whatever it is that you have the coupon for. Than go to the store and make sure that you actually put the right number and label of whatever it is that you are buying. Oh, and don't forget to give the cashier your coupons too. After all that, you are done! But only until next week..........is it really worth all that??? Granted, I can save around 30% every time I go shopping, but wow! What a process it turns out to be!

Man, coupons. I try to use them but a lot of times forget that I have them.
My aunt was the queen coupon clipper. She would have these organized folders and she really saved a lot of money for so many years doing the coupon thing. And during the summer when I would stay at her house with my cousins, I would help her organize them sometimes and even go shopping with her and I would be the designated coupon holder to make sure she got the right item that the coupon was for. So I know how much work it is, but have yet to really do it for myself.
Way to go with maintaning the household budget and making your money stretch as far as possible. It can definately be hard.
WOW! Katy I hate coupons. I know this is really stupid on my part, but I just can't stand the fact that I have to cut and save and then dig out and don't forget to use.
But someday I think I will be a coupon user. Becuase I love it when I have one and I can use it. I love it when I save money on stuff. The problem with me is I see a coupon and think "I need this" I don't know what it is or how to use it but I need it. :)

You are good. I can never keep track of them or I would forget to give them to the cashier.
Did you watch that news report about the lady who spends $10 a wekk on groceries for her family of 4 or 5? She uses coupons along with the specials and ends up getting more money back from all of it. She says that it takes her about 2 hours a week. She puts them in a nice binder in order of store. Then she has them in order of food item, hair product, and so forth. As she is shopping she opens the binder and goes from there.
Your next step should be buying a binder. When using it you wont forget to use the coupons either. Good luck! Tell me how it goes. Maybe I'll start using coupons.
